The Crownsville Nursery is a small, mailorder nursery
dedicated to quality, selection and service; we pride ourselves on customer
service and attention to detail. We spent years perfecting our packing
system, generally acknowledged as the best in the industry. To ensure that
your order arrives nursery-fresh at your door, we inspect each plant we ship
individually, then wrap and secure in its shipping carton - no styrofoam, no
mess. Your order is important to us, our continued success depends on your
satisfaction.
If you are new to mailorder gardening or have been disappointed by the
quality or condition of the plants shipped to you in the past, please read

"Imagine opening a shipping box and finding vibrant plants,
some already in bloom, vigorous, bursting with color - a ready-made garden.
I hate the word instant, but Crownsville’s product comes about as close as
anything can."
Ken Druse, Garden Editor, House Beautiful and Author of The Natural Garden,
The Natural Shade Garden, and The Natural Habitat Garden

"No other nursery can match the care [The Crownsville
Nursery] takes in packaging and shipping plants to customers."
Patricia Taylor, Author of Easy Care Perennials and Easy Care Shade Flowers

"Everything arrives very hale and hearty due to gigantic
plants shipped in scrupulous packing,... overall, a very fine source."

"I was most impressed by your recent shipment. Your
ingenious packaging and well-grown plants rank with the best I have ever
received in 40 years of buying plants by mail order. As an added bonus, your
catalog, with its wealth of valuable horticultural information not normally
provided in such publications is a plantsman’s delight. Keep up the good
work!"

The Plants |
|
Nearly all of our plants are shipped in quart pots.
Actually, our growing containers are 4½" x 5½" deep, a bit larger than the
traditional nursery quart. These pots are fully 3 times as large in volume
as the pots most commonly used for mail order shipping. The extra growing
room produces a much better plant, with a larger, more established root
system. We have indicated in the individual catalog listings all plants that
are not grown in quarts.
