Polystichum acrostichoides, our native
Christmas Fern,
is probably the
best know of this group and in our area is the most common. The shiny,
dark green fronds are Boston Fern look alikes, held upright initially,
gradually flattening out. Ideal for the shady rockery, this clump former
doesn’t spread but will also tolerate the somewhat drier and sunnier
places that most ferns would shun. The evergreen fronds were used in
holiday decorations.

Nursery Propagated
Ferns - We do not sell ferns, or any other plants for that matter,
that have been collected in the wild. All of our ferns have been
nursery propagated. This not only protects wild populations, but
potted, nursery propagated ferns are much easier to establish in
the garden than plants dug in the wild and shipped bareroot.
