Great Hosta Specials

Buy in sets of 3 and save! ... see also Great Fern Specials and Great Plant Specials

These Great Plant Specials have become very popular with our customers. The plants are not just a bunch of leftovers that we couldn’t sell, we select some of our most popular varieties and grow them in large numbers just for these specials. It’s a great deal for our customers, and, by growing them in large quantities and selling them in sets of three, we reduce our handling costs significantly, so we both benefit.

more Hostas and descriptions on these pages:   Dwarf & Small Hostas,   Medium Hostas,    Large Hostas.

401900 Hosta 'Antioch’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $15.90.
We like ‘Antioch’ because it has an informal look to it, large pointed leaves that arch nearly to the ground, with wide, irregular margins of creamy white. Each leaf is different, and a mature clump is really beautiful. It has won multiple awards from the Hosta Society, and going back through our copies of the Journal, we could not find a year when it wasn’t ranked highly on the popularity poll, right up there with all the expensive new introductions.

404800 Hosta 'Blue Angel’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $19.90
There are a great many large blue cultivars, some say too many. This one has large, heart-shaped leaves, not puckered but nicely veined.  Flowers are white. It is probably of sieboldiana lineage, but seems to be faster growing and less crinkled than most of the sieboldiana hybrids. It also seems to get larger than most.

413200 Hosta 'Diamond Tiara’ - 3 plants     Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $13.90
The white-edged form of ‘Golden Tiara’, with a slightly larger leaf and good green color. Very nice. Purple flowers.

415300 Hosta 'Emerald Tiara’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $15.90
A reversed form of ‘Golden Tiara’, leaves are gold centered with green margins.  Mix this one with ‘Golden Tiara’ for a very interesting ground cover for the shade. Purple flowers.

418100 Hosta 'Francee’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $13.90
To read a short catalog description, you might think that ‘Antioch’ and ‘Francee’ were pretty much the same - green fortunei types with white variegation. But they are totally different (well, as totally as two similar plants can be). ‘Francee’ is more upright and symmetrical, the leaves darker green with a neat, narrow white edge, a more formal and elegant plant. Like ‘Antioch’ it always rates highly on the popularity poll.

420000 Hosta 'Gold Edger’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $11.90
Forms a small, neat, dense mound of heart-shaped chartreuse to gold leaves. Lavender flowers. Multiplies rapidly, excellent for ground cover or edging.

420300 Hosta 'Gold Standard’ - 3 plants     Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $13.90
‘Gold Standard’ starts the season in a deceptively plain fashion, emerging in spring with medium green leaves. But it soon begins to develop a beautiful mound of brightly variegated foliage as all but the margins of the leaf turn to gold. ‘Gold Standard’ is a fortunei type, vigorous and fast to multiply. It forms a medium size mound.

421200 Hosta 'Golden Tiara’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $11.90
Forms a neat mound of heart-shaped, medium green leaves with a yellow edge.  A very vigorous grower, it’s excellent for edging or as a ground cover. Purple flowers.

421900 Hosta 'Grand Tiara’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $19.90
A sport from ‘Golden Tiara’, the leaf is a bit larger and has more substance. The gold margin is much wider, sometimes so wide that it gives the effect of a golden yellow leaf with a center splash of green. The width of the margin varies with exposure and the season.

423700 Hosta 'Halcyon’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $19.90
We don’t think we’ve ever seen a Hosta with a more beautiful blue color than this one, a chalky, powdery blue in spring, turning to a deep blue in the summer, and holding up well in the fall after most Hostas have turned to mush. The leaves are heart-shaped and heavily ribbed. They arch and overlap, forming a neat, symmetrical mound topped by white flowers This is definitely one of our favorite Hostas.

429000 Hosta 'Krossa Regal’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $15.90
Undulating, frosty blue-gray leaves, held upright and arching, form a large, distinctively vase-shaped plant. Lavender flowers on spikes up to 5' tall.  One of the best and most popular of all Hosta cultivars.

437600 Hosta 'Night before Christmas’ - 3 plants     Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $19.90
This is a sport of ‘White Christmas’ with long, deep green leaves with a white streak down the center. Much more vigorous than ‘White Christmas’ forming a medium to large mound with lavender flowers. The center fades to light green in mid summer.

444100 Hosta 'Royal Standard’ - 3 plants     Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $11.90
Forms a medium size clump of glossy, dark green leaves, with large white fragrant flowers.

449000 Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans’ - 3 plants     Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $19.90
Many of today’s expensive blue leaved Hostas are hybrids or sports of this beautiful specimen sized plant. It forms a huge mound of heavily textured blue foliage, 4’ or more across.  There are many hybrids and sports of this plant selling for a lot more, but for the price, you can’t beat it. This plant has been around for a long time and you might find small variations among plants obtained from different growers.

449900 Hosta 'So Sweet’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $19.90
Rounded, glossy green leaves have a wide, creamy-white margin. Recently named “Hosta of the Year”, it forms a very pretty, upright clump with fragrant white flowers. One of the best.

460000 Hosta 'Wide Brim’ - 3 plants      Add to Cart
Quart Pots - $15.90
Low and wide, with great color and texture, ‘Wide Brim’ is bound to be a standout in any planting. Leaves are deep green, heavily puckered, with very wide, irregular yellow to cream margins. Increases rapidly. Because it doesn’t get very tall, it goes well in front of the larger blues. Pale lavender flowers.
