I really like the Foxglove flowered hybrid Penstemons.
Unfortunately most of the varieties I’ve tried simply do not survive
here in the mid Atlantic. The closest I have come is
Penstemon ‘Sour Grapes’,
which has good showy purple flower spikes over a long season and has
proved to be rock hardy here.
Polygonatum
odoratum 'Variegatum' is a favorite plant here and a mature
specimen is a focal point in any shade garden. The leaves are 3-4" long,
medium green, edged and lightly streaked with white. They are widely
spaced along the graceful arching stems. The bell shaped flowers are
greenish white, hanging along the undersides of the stems in spring and
early summer. The leaves and stems have good substance and are long
lasting when used as cuts.
